Brettschneider Scholarship Fund


CTTA is proud to announce one of our greatest accomplishments, the Brettschneider Scholarship Fund.  Named after sponsor Cynthia Brettschneider, CTTA is more than a tennis program, we also believe in educating our youth.  We hope the Brettschneider Scholarship Fund gives a deserving senior the opportunity to further their educational goals.



                           
Mrs. Cynthia Brettschneider (Ms. Cindy) began her education at the University of
Houston, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology.  She later earned a Masters
of Science in Biochemistry from Rice University and a Masters of Business Administration
from the University of Chicago.  Ms. Cindy and her family moved to Austin, where she
continued her education and eventually achieved a Masters of Science in Nursing from the
University of Texas.

Ms. Cindy’s volunteer work began as a direct care giver in Austin’s AIDS hospice. Shortly thereafter, she was named to the Executive Committee as a charter member of the Austin Area Homeless Coalition.  She wrote the organization’s charter and produced the Coalition’s television show,  “Dialogues about Homelessness,” winning two local cable awards, one for Best Local News Program and the other a Humanitarian Award.

In 2007, Ms. Cindy began the CTTA’s Science Program. Originally her goal was to “create a science revolution in East Austin.” Eventually, it became categorized as Informal Science, a national priority promoted and funded by the National Science Foundation. Informal Science makes kids interested in and excited about science, technology, engineering and math.  In 2010 Ms. Cindy won the CTTA’s “Aces Off the Court” award. 

Ms. Cindy has four adult children and resides with her husband in San Marcos.   She continues to play tennis with wild enthusiasm and little talent (as she would say).
